Enrollment Journey Brand System

New Jersey City University’s admissions communications had evolved over many years through individual projects, changing leadership priorities, and budget constraints. As a result, recruitment materials lacked visual consistency, messaging alignment, and a clear relationship to one another. Students often encountered different experiences at various stages of the enrollment process, creating a fragmented impression of the university.

I led the redesign of the recruitment ecosystem by approaching the project as a complete student journey rather than a series of disconnected deliverables. To better understand the admissions experience, I facilitated working sessions with counselors, inventoried existing materials, and mapped how prospective students interacted with the university from their first encounter at a college fair through admission and registration.

Using this research, I developed a unified visual and communication system that connected both the top and bottom of the enrollment funnel. The top-of-funnel materials—including event banners, tabling displays, informational handouts, and brand giveaways—were designed to attract attention in crowded recruitment environments and create memorable first impressions of the NJCU brand. The system extended into the post-application phase through acceptance packages, financial aid communications, registration materials, and a series of coordinated touchpoints designed to guide students through enrollment.

Beyond creating the visual identity, I established the strategic role of each piece within the recruitment process, ensuring that every communication supported a specific student need while contributing to a cohesive brand experience. Digital and physical prototypes were tested with admissions counselors through simulated recruitment scenarios, allowing the system to be refined before launch. Following implementation, I gathered feedback from counselors and incorporated iterative improvements based on real-world usage and student engagement patterns.

The result was a more organized, effective, and cohesive recruitment program that provided counselors with a stronger toolkit for student conversations while delivering a consistent NJCU brand experience across the entire enrollment journey.
